About

Name: Nguyet Mai Vuong
Location: Washington DC

I paint what I live and what I feel. Flowing lines and familiar faces are tweaked to capture an essence, punctuated by inside jokes and intentional imperfections.

I was born in Viet Nam and migrated to the U.S in 1990, after spending three years in a refugee camp in Malaysia and Phillipines. I received a bachelor's degree in fine art from University of Maryland, CP. I have exhibited around Balitmore and the DC metro area.

By day, I am a web designer. When not designing within parameters and constraints, I like to color outside the box. In exploring the balance between chaos and constraints, I often discover new aspects of myself through the people around me.

Recently, I started a watercolor potrait series of my closest girl friends. These women are my un-related sisters, my honest mirrors and my constant inspiration. Although each her own unique individual, we share each others' spirit, strength, humor and compassion.

My design portfolio is here.
